The March for Black Life

The March for Black Life

On August 28th, 2020, members of Catholic Social Action were proud to organize the first “March for Black Life”, protesting historic injustice against black Americans and the recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others.

As part of this effort, we organized the documentation of an Open Letter to the US Bishops. The corresponding petition reached over 1000 signatures.

Thank you to Julian Hayda from the St. Mary of Egypt Social Justice Fellowship for writing a version of the above text for the Bishops of the Eastern Catholic Churches in the US!

The Program of the Day of the March

The March project was featured in a few articles:

The New York Times (on Gloria Purvis and the ongoing #BLM debate) Catholic Standard (Paper of Archdiocese of Washington DC)

The Catholic Herald (Jonathan Culbreath, one of our Signatories, debates Matthew Schmitz, Editor at First Things, about the validity of our project)

Let's get to work. Will you help us?

You are in fact made in the image of God, and can act with virtue in these turbulent times.
